Hello and Welcome to St. Anne Preschool! My name is Mrs. Sarah Amidon. My husband, four children and I have been a part of the St. Anne School family for the past 13 years. We started here in 2004 when our oldest two children started second grade and kindergarten. We were new to the area and had no idea St. Anne School even existed until a college classmate told me about it. The moment I stepped into the school I felt like I was walking into my own home. We never looked back! Our younger two children had the privilege of being a part of the preschool program with Cheryl Cicioni. I feel like I have come full circle now as the teacher of the very same preschool following in Cheryl Cicioni's footsteps. It is a dream come true for me.The dream started when I entered Immaculata College back in 1984. I graduated in 1988 with a BA in psychology and a teaching certification in Early Childhood Education. I taught briefly in a diagnostic preschool for children with disabilities then moved onto a small Catholic school in Norristown PA. After getting married and starting a family I stayed home to raise my children. When my youngest daughter started Kindergarten here at St. Anne School I went back to work as a substitute teacher hoping to eventually get my own classroom. My dream has always been to teach preschool in a Catholic School. It's been a long and winding road getting here but I am finally here and couldn't be happier! It's going to be a great year!

Early Childhood Philosophy

The early childhood years are so much fun and so fleeting - they grow up so fast! The world around our children is moving quickly. It is sometimes hard for them to keep up. They are full of wonder, curiosity and excitement about the world they are still experiencing for the first time! They need time to take it all in-experience all there is to see, do and understand! A lot is expected of our children at younger and younger ages. In my classroom your children will being doing the hard work of play! Play is how children at this age learn. Although they will be having lots of fun they will be busy, busy, busy working hard at their play. The vast majority of our learning will be hands on activities so you may not see a lot of "papers" coming home. We will have daily art activities. Many of the art activities will be displayed throughout the classroom and may not come home right away. The children will have opportunities to paint, color and draw daily as part of our sensory and expressive art centers and that will come home regularly. Prepare a space on the fridge to hang their masterpieces! The children will be learning social skills and how to interact in the world through dramatic play. Dramatic play is also a great emotional tool it helps your child process all the things they do during school and at home. We will use lots of fine motor and gross motor manipulative toys to strengthen little fingers as well as learn concepts such as their letters, numbers, colors and shapes. During the preschool years it is important to learn the art of listening, sitting still, following directions, sharing and caring for our friends. All of these concepts can be very hard to master so it will take a lot of practice!St. Anne School is a Catholic School. The biggest reason I want to teach in Catholic schools is because I want to share my faith and my relationship with Christ with my students so our faith, just like in "the big kids part of the school" will be a part of our daily lessons. We will learn to pray. We will learn Bible stories. We will learn about who the important people are in our lives that help us grow in our faith.I am so excited to work with all of you not just your children but you, the parents. I LOVED parenting my preschoolers. They were so much fun. I look forward to sharing such an exciting and important part of your children's lives with you. PLEASE feel free to contact me. I can't promise you I will answer immediately particularly if it is during class time but please feel free to stop by after class to talk with me or contact me via phone or email if you have any concerns or exciting milestones. If I can't respond immediately I will get back to you as soon as I possibly can. Communication is essential to a great year. You are your child's first teacher, I just get to hang out with them a few hours a week so please feel free to share with me any concerns, ideas or thoughts you may have about your child. TOGETHER we will make this an extra special year full of memories.

Hello and welcome to St. Anne Preschool 2.0 the new and improved addition! It occurred to me as I was watching many of you at our new preschool open house that last year about this time I started a novena to St. Theresa for more friends in preschool. St. Theresa didn't dissappoint! We are 31 strong up from 8 last year! It is going to be an exciting year. I am looking forward to being with many of your children all day! I am looking forward to being with all my students everyday. We will be busy learning, growing, and getting to know one another!
Tuesday September 5th is our first day. We will get to spend just an hour together, long enough to wet their appetites for a full day the following day! I will be in school all this week if you have any questions please don't hesitate to call or email me with any questions.
